Leadership School for European Democracy - the key to leadership!


The project, Leadership School for European Democracy - 2009, was held 18-21 August at the rest camp "Forest Comfort," near Sumy. With 4 days of training workshops, it was supported by the Lithuanian Embassy in Ukraine, and the European Commission in Ukraine, and was organized and conducted by Sumy NGO Center for European Initiatives. 30 students from Sumy and Sumy region (Konotop; Okhtyrka districts) took part.

Camp Unity


On August 2nd, 2009, 32 Ukrainian youth and teachers from all over Ukraine met 12 counselors from Ukraine, the United States, and Nigeria in Sumy to participate in the 1st annual Camp Unity. Organized by US Peace Corps volunteers and the Sumy NGO Center for European Initiatives, this project was financed through the support of a Democracy Grant from the US Embassy and a Partnership Grant from the US Peace Corps.

Week of creativity in Germany – "Transformation"


16-26 July creative and active youth from Ukraine, Poland and Germany met in the youth center Hirshluh (Shtorkov, Germany), for 10 days filled with art and creativity. This “Week of Creativity” was a collaboration between the Association of Youth Welfare and Social Work (Germany), the Center of European Initiatives (Ukraine) and the Foundation Happy Childhood (Poland).

Camp Excite – Healthy Lifestyles


From 13-18 July 67 pupils, students, teachers, and Peace Corps volunteers participated in Camp Excite – Healthy Lifestyles. Situated in the forests near Kurgan, it was the first overnight Camp Excite. Participants slept in tents, cooked over an open fire, and learned about healthy living. Participants came from Sumy and Sumy region, Krasnopillia, Okhtirka, and Chernihiv.
