2010 Summer Camp EXCITE a Great Success!


Camp EXCITE was held July 19-23 in a beautiful campsite near the town of Kurgen on the Psol River. The majority of the 43 high school students attending were from Sumy schools, but there were also students from Konotop, Billipellia, Kharkiv, Lebedyne, and one visiting student from Russia. Twelve Peace Corps Volunteers, three teachers from Sumy schools, three university students, and one medical nurse accompanied the participants. Students were interviewed prior to going to judge their motivation and English-speaking ability.

Week of Creativity in Germany


July 8-18 2010 – The Youth Center, Hirshlyuh (Shtorkov, Germany), was the site of the annual Week of Creativity. Attending were 45 young, talented people from Ukraine, Poland and Germany who gathered to enjoy a cultural experience of art and creativity. The event was organized in association with the Youth Care and Social Work (Fyurstenvalde, Germany) and partners, Centre for European Initiatives (Sumy, Ukraine) and the Happy Childhood Foundation (Lublin, Poland).

Training Course for Coordinators of International Youth Exchanges in Poland


Week 7 to June 13, 2010 25 - Young people from three countries (Germany, Ukraine, Poland) aged 18 to 25 years studied the organization and management of international youth exchanges. The event was organized by Happy Childhood Foundation (Poland) with the partnership of the Center for European Initiatives (Sumy, Ukraine) and the Association for Youth Welfare Services and Social Work (Germany).
