School Debate Tournament "Ukraine in the European Integration Process"

A school debate tournament "Ukraine in the European Integration Process" was held at Sumy State University on June 5, 2009. Sumy State University Euroclub and the Sumy University Library Debate Club, with support from the Ukrainian Association of European Studies, and Sumy Center for European Information, conducted the project.

The tournament was attended by 8 teams from school Euroclubs. The debate used a British format. The game took place in two rounds during which the team discussed issues of European integration. In particular, "This Chamber believes that Ukraine should join the European Union" and "This Chamber believes that Ukraine as a future member of the European Union should adopt all European standards and values."

The tournament was very exciting, students managed to submit their own interesting views and behaved tolerantly towards other positions. The winning team "Clever Boy and Clever Girl" (Sumy Specialized School No. 9), second place - team "No. 1" (Specialized School No. 1). The winners recieved valuable gifts, and all participants recieved prizes.
