Tolerance and the Prevention of Xenophobia Among Youth

Project goal: tolerance and the prevention of racist and xenophobic expressions among youth in Ukraine through education and information activities, and by supporting for youth initiatives.

Project objectives:

  • Raise the awareness of Ukrainian youth about xenophobia and racism;
  • Promote tolerance among young people, including understanding the negative consequences of discrimination;
  • Create a national group of youth trainers on tolerance;
  • Help youth in implementing a series of independent civil society initiatives aimed at promoting tolerance;
  • Establish a national collaboration between different groups in the on the topic of tolerance;
  • Develop a manual that includes educational materials to promote diversity, and the distribution of this guide among community organizations and educational institutions of Ukraine.

Period conducted: March - November 2009.

  • US Peace Corps Volunteers in Ukraine;
  • Sumy Regional Office of Education.
