The Euroclub at CEI

The first Sumy Youth Euroclub was created February 7, 2007 by CEI. The founding members were youth representatives of different educational establishments and organizations in Sumy.

The aim of this Euroclub:

  • A place for youth to gather, in an open and friendly surrounding, for self-expression and the realization of their personal goals and ideas;
  • A place for accessing information about Europe, European Union, European culture and traditions, and for spreading this knowledge out into the regional community;
  • To enhance cooperation with youth from Europe in order to enhance cultural integration, breed tolerance, and diminish stereotypes.

Projects completed by the Euroclub at CEI include: the role-game "Formation of Europe's Future"; a photo contest "Sumy and Europe, Cross Points"; Days of Europe celebration in May 2007; and others.

In addition to meetings and project activity, Euroclub members had the opportunity to communicate with colleagues from other cities of Ukraine and Europe, and to take part in different meetings, seminars, trainings, and youth programs. In June 2007 two Euroclub members visited a summer camp for participants of Euroclubs of Ukraine, which took place in Lasurne, in the Kherson region, on the Black sea.

In November 2007 it was decided to broaden Euroclub activity and develop a new level of Euroclub programs — Euroclub members worked to create individual Euroclubs in their educational establishments, which allowed them to involve additional active youth into this initiative.
